24H competition 39th edition

Postponed to //July 30th to July 31st //

Framework

Recently we have witnessed a global escalation of violence worldwide, the most mediatic case being Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

War has always been present in human history because it seems to be part of the human condition. The lust for power!

Like pandemics, wars are always a great scourge for some and a great opportunity for others. It is in the midst of this perversity that we find ourselves. We are like lawyers. We serve both parties.

We draw cities, buildings, streets, squares, and after they have been destroyed, we draw again. Seen like that, it doesn't look bad, in fact, it could even be an opportunity to improve what could not be well if it weren't for the thousands of lives lost, historic buildings destroyed (which will never be replaced), and the architectural heritage of qualitative value that was lost forever.

There is another reality that we designers concern us. This one is upstream of the wars. Maybe it gives them the basis for being born, growing, and doing their damage. Military architecture. Extensive military fortifications, barracks, shelters, bunkers, checkpoints, watchtowers, etc. It is in this reality that we contribute to the success, or not, of a war and/or defense of a nation.

At the end of the day, it's always better nowar!

“When the rich make war, it's always the poor who die.”

Jean-Paul Sartre
